It was 2004, the year Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook in the United States.
Italy was yet to see any of the energy incentives that had lately proven so successful in Germany.
An international agreement on global warming, signed at the UN Convention in Kyoto, Japan, in December 1997, was yet to come into effect. The various nations were to attain their objectives only a few months later, in February 16th 2005.
It was in this context that, at the end of 2004, in Treviso, Giampiero Cittati and Stefano Gasparotto, two engineers who had worked as Industrial Directors for many years, established Energy4Evolution Srl.
In 2005, with the approval of the first feed-in tariff, Energy4Evolution inaugurated a new office in Rome.
The following year, in Venice, the first photovoltaic system – integrated in the roof of a hotel – was connected to the mains.
In 2007, Energy4Evolution patented a system that is able to increase the efficiency of a photovoltaic module by combining the production of electrical energy with the production of heat energy. This idea was used again in 2011 in the creation of a special ventilated photovoltaic facade that could form an active "cover" for a building.
2008, various polycrystalline systems were devised the size of which was quite unusual for the time – 280 Wp, when the standard size of modules by the competition was around 190 to 210 Wp.
This was because the company had always believed in the strategic importance of innovative products and in the use of advanced, state-of-the-art components.

Also in 2008, after several "traditional" installations, the company used CIS (Copper Indium Selenide) for the first time on the front of a building in the area of Turin, when most installation companies in the field were convinced photovoltaic modules could only be made of silicon.
The year 2009 saw, among other things, the creation of a system with glass-glass PV modules (E4E design) for a steel structure of high architectural value on a residential complex.
In 2010, the largest architecturally integrated system in Italy was built using mono-crystalline modules, installed on the roof of an industrial building, with asbestos removal.
In 2011, innovative photovoltaic greenhouses have been completed combining the needs of farm businesses with the need for high efficiency photovoltaic systems. Among the projects of 2011: integrating system on building of a well known pharmaceutical industry already active, and the first photovoltaic system designed on dump, to ensure very low environmental impact, being realised.
The company is engaged in a project developing electronic devices for integration with a "smart grid", trialling a set of prototypes with its main systems.
